Largo Custody Attorney
The family courts in Florida operate under two basic beliefs: parents have a fundamental right to their kids, and children benefit from having a relationship with both their mother and their father. As a result, child custody attorney arrangements strive to give as equal parenting time as possible to both parents. However, there are some situations where it is in the child's best interests to live solely with one parent, or to sever ties completely with a parent.
I am child custody attorney, Tamara K. Holden, and I have guided many clients through creating effective parenting plans.
Custody is typically separated into two categories:
- Physical custody is the determination of where the child will actually live. Physical custody also has a component of time sharing, or visitation. This refers to the amount of time the child will spend with the other parent.
- Legal custody refers to the decision-making responsibilities of each parent. Decisions such as education, religion and medical care are often determined here.
The main goal of child custody is to determine what is in the best interest of the child. The court will pay special attention to decisions that will affect the care and well-being of the child. As an experienced Clearwater attorney, I can guide my clients through these difficult times and keep the attention focused squarely on the welfare of their children.
Working Together Through Mediation
Mediation is the aspect of family court where the two parents must work together to create a parenting plan to address custody and visitation needs of the children in a divorce. It has been my experience that both parties are more satisfied with the outcome of these mediations because they have had a direct say in all of the decisions.
If a resolution cannot be reached, the matter must be taken before a judge. I am confident in my ability to guide you through mediation or represent you in court if the need arises. I understand how important these decisions are, and I can educate you on the best course of action.
